About
This is my blog documenting my history and regular updates on my recovery from chronic alcoholism. In July 2008, I failed a random drug test at work and ended up in rehab. In the next few weeks I discovered that my alcoholic lifestyle was not normal. I completed rehab and was able to return to work. My wife and I separated and I moved into a small apartment. I remained sober for 6 months. I bought a small house in March 2009. Closing was on March 12th. Having survived the purchase process, I was feeling great. I decided that 6 months of sobriety proved that I could control my drinking and could celebrate a little. I was not scheduled to work, so I bought a 12 pack and returned to my apartment. I intended to just have a few and go to bed. I ended up drinking the whole thing. A few hours later, I was called to report for work. In my impaired condition, I just got ready and went to work and walked in to another random drug test. My second failure resulted in the loss of my job, my wife’s decision to divorce me, and a return to rehab. I have now been sober for 4 months (my sobriety date is Friday, March 13, 2009).
